Thursday's Treasure

~*~
It was love at first sight when I laid eyes on this tray liner at the thrift this week.  It was just sitting on a shelf in a bag... with about 15 others!  And boy are they big- over 13" in diameter.  None of them are perfect, but many of them are in pretty darned good shape.  Could be used as is, or as inspiration for another project.  Ooh, how about a garland?  Or placecards?  What would you make with this?   Share your idea in the comments- one of these just might show up on your doorstep ;)

Bunny Baby

It doesn't get much more precious, does it? Can you guess what this is?

It's an iron-on transfer! I couldn't leave it behind when I found it today. Trouble is, there's no date. So, while it looks vintage, I'm not sure that it is vintage. In any case, I am fascinated by the image, and by the fact that it purports to have a "baby fresh frangrance"! And do you know what else? The package says something about glitter, too! I have a surprise in store regarding this item, but for now, I ask... what would YOUR crafty goddess self make with this?

Makeover Monday: 8/17

I started with a vintage peach colored sheet, and a green patterned quilting fabric.

And I ended up with upcycled pumpkin number two! I am always drawn to the white pumpkins at the patch, and this one reminds me of their loveliness. I don't think I told you in my last post about the pumpkin- it's actually a pumpkin pot. The lid comes off, and it's a perfect place to stash your personal supply of Halloween candy :)

Anchors Aweigh!
~*~

I am not a chronic Etsy front page checker, but several times when I have logged in recently, I've noticed a nautical theme. When I saw this pillowcase, I decided to jump on the bandwagon!
~*~

Once cut and crocheted it doesn't scream "ahoy".
~*~

But with a little added prop magic, it easily goes back to its seafaring roots :)

Happy Monday, friends!

Makeover Monday: 7/13

~*~
I found this beautiful 100% cotton Ralph Lauren bedsheet at the thrift store the other day. I washed her up and have been gazing at her, trying to decide what special purpose she could serve. The background is such a shabby chic vintage mint color, and those roses, mmmmm.
~*~
I cut her into 4 equal pieces, and am using a large hook to crochet each piece into a round like this one. These will be the beginning of my new project...care to guess what I have in mind?? Come on, play along...leave your guess in the comments. I'll be back tonight to tell you what I am making!

Makeover Monday: 6/15

You might think it was the saw, or perhaps the lovely paint can and brush that drew me to this pillowcase, but no. Believe it or not, it was the fabulous shade of orange paired with the cool turquoise.
~*~
See, once cut and crocheted, fabric loses its original pattern and obtains an altogether new one! What a makeover, eh?

The moral of this story- always judge a case by its colors!

Ideas Please

Would you believe these beautiful beads are made out of paper? They were made just for me by the talented Karen at RunsWithScissors4! She used gorgeous rosy paper in my favorite shades of pink and green. Now, I need to decide what I would like to make with them! My initial idea is to use them as embellishments on crochet flower gift tags. Or maybe little tassel ends for a drawstring bag? I would love to hear more ideas if you have some!!
