Makeover Monday: 8/16

Not to be immodest, but after crocheting with fabric as long as I have, it is rare for me to find a general pattern that I haven't tried. You've seen most of it right here- the plaid, the dots, the stripes, the floral, the flannel. This graffiti sheet is a first, though!

It's a party in a bowl! In person you can see the bits of letters and flecks of colors, creating an overall fun effect. Maybe I'll name her "ransom note".

Happy, happy new week to you! Enjoy summer's last fling :)

Makeover Monday: 7/12

I've been working with nothing but yarn for weeks! While I do love yarn, I have really been missing my fabric crochet work. I chose this tie-dyed shirt for its interesting mix of colors.

The ochre really pops in the final product, and I like how the rim ended up with a lilting ripple to it. This is perhaps my favorite thing about crocheting with fabric; no two items are EVER the same!

Happy Monday to you! How is your week looking? I am finally back to a *normal* routine after the post-trip recovery. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow, so please send good thoughts my way... it's one of my least favorite things to do in the world. And did I tell you that I broke my foot? No? Well, it's true. A stress fracture in two places, and now I get to wear a (black, heavy, hot and oh, so fashionable) boot for a few weeks. Could be worse, right?

Makeover Monday: 6/28

In honor of our upcoming Independence Day, I chose this lovely vintage bedsheet in spectacular red, white and blues.

The texture produced by the patterns in this fabric is just phenomenal. I love that it's a unique twist with traditional colors.

Happy Monday! Do you have any exciting plans for this week? Do tell!

I Heart Polka Dots

You just can't go wrong crocheting with polka dotted fabric! And if it's an aqua-teal dotted fabric, so much the better!

These are the last two pieces that I made to take on my consigning adventure Thursday. I've made my price sheet/inventory list, and have started a list of questions to ask. Have you sold on consignment before? Any tips you have or info I need would be SO appreciated!

A New Shape

As I sat down the other night with the remainder of this gorgeous purple vintage sheet, I decided that it deserved a special purpose. I had been thinking about adding a *median price range* bowl to the shop, for those who'd like something larger than the 3" or 5" ones that I typically offer.
~*~
I came up with the idea of combining a bowl and a coaster and making sort of a shallow dish. One that could be used as a sweet centerpiece, or as a container for items that you really want to see all of. Like makeup, maybe. Or some kind of pretty potpourri or collection of little things. This "art bowl" measures over 8" wide and the sides slope up gently to stand about 2" high. Price tag: $15.

Please help me out with my description...what would YOU put in a container like this?
