Thursday's Treasure

~*~
I continue to collect vintage sheets and towels if I see really good ones, but other than that I haven't been *thriftng as usual*.  With a summer move for which to prepare, I have been bringing more to the donation centers than into the house.  This is a good thing.  I couldn't keep my paws off of this adorable vintage pillowcase, though.  It's one of the cutest I have ever seen, and I just may keep this one for myself.  Ninety cents...see, friends, you can buy happiness with couch change!

Sneak Peek

It feels like it has been ages since I have had a chance to just sit down and do some listing. I find that if I tell you that I'm going to do it, though, I hold myself more accountable. So, here are a few of the things that I hope to get on the shelves tonight!

A new rag ball creation for sosorosey! This table mat/coaster is bursting with color... and it's large enough to serve as a pet food rug on the floor as well.
~*~ And for sosovintage, a neon plastic piggy bank from 1977...

... one of those cool pillowcases from my stash...

... and a classic glass tree topper complete with glitter, mica, handpainting and indents.

If you don't see these things in my shops by tomorrow morning, feel free to give me a stern talking to :)

Starbrite Peppermints

I made this trivet/coaster last night, and the first thing I thought of when I saw the finished product was peppermint. Not just any peppermints, though. Only the Starbrite kind, by Brachs I think. Those were the ones my grandma always had in her purse. And the ones grandpa always had in his pocket. Funny how the smallest thing can trigger a tidal wave of nostalgia when you least expect it. Has that ever happened to you?

Makeover Monday: 4/20

Sometimes I know what I will be making before I start cutting a fabric. Other times, I let the material guide me. Last night was one of those "other times". As I began crocheting the strips from this gorgeous pillowcase, I couldn't bear to lose any of the color in the bottom of a bowl- it HAD to be a trivet. It is a bit smaller than my usual table coaster size, but I do love the way it turned out. You can peek at more pictures HERE if you'd like!

It's a very soggy day here in northern Virginia. I've got my Life Is Good ball cap on, though, and I'm getting ready to do a little thrifting while my daughter is at school. What do you have going on this fine Monday?

Makeover Monday: 4/6

I found this vintage pillowcase hanging alone and sad, ready for a new life and new purpose! Look how happy she is to be a bowl! I love the way the pink, aqua, and orange pop out of the golden mustard background. I'm still searching my brain for a name for this one...any ideas?
