Dead As A...

... doornail.  Yep, that describes both of my shops lately.

So, I wondered, what IS a doornail?  And where did that expression come from?

    I think it's the last reason quoted. It does seem to sound more plausable. :o)

    Oh you're so lovely...fancy looking it up for us all to nosey at :o)

    I wish you had had other things to do though -specially like crocheting orders, or cutting fabric orders...:o(
    Maybe it's just that time of the year though Jennie. Hopefully your shops will be buzzing again very soon. :o)

  2. Very surprised about your shops. It will pick up again. Sometimes I feel invisible on Etsy, but I really don't put enough time and energy there.

    I knew dead as a door nail was used by Shakespeare--remember that from my English lit days. I actually thought he coined that phrase. Thanks for sharing!
