Makeover Monday: 3/5

Happy new week!  For today's makeover, I started with my favorite robin's egg blue cotton yarn.
~*~
Then I added a bit of this colorful cotton scarf...
~*~
... to create a one-of-a-kind set of springtime nesting bowls.
~*~
I so love the way they cozy up to each other.  Ready to work hard...
~*~
... or just look pretty!
~*~
After almost an entire non-winter, we have daffodils and forsythia blooming already.  But would you believe that right now, as I type, it is snowing?  It is so pretty, and made for a great walk this morning.  I'm looking forward to a morning of cutting fabric to fill this weekend's orders, and then an afternoon of hitting the thrift sales.  What do you have in store for this week?

Off Track

~*~
Well, due to some technical difficulties and a nasty sinus infection, I've really gotten off track with my blog week.  I'm planning to have Thursday's Treasure and Friday's Fabrics for you this weekend, though.  In the meantime, I wanted to share these bowls with you.
~*~
~*~
This is a nesting set of utility bowls, crocheted with a double strand of cotton string.  These will be heading to San Francisco this weekend because they were made at the special request of a lovely repeat customer.
~*~
~*~
Special requests are even more awesome when they turn out to be for items I can list as "made to order" in my shop.  The smallest of these bowls is 3" wide by 2.5" high.  The largest is a whopping 10" wide and 3.5" tall.  Lots of clutter keeping ability with these organizers!

Custom Nested Bowls: Check!

I recently had a special request for nesting bowls in dark brown with a gold rag trim.
~*~
My customer opted to go with two of the 3 shades of brown that I showed her; it's subtle, but the middle bowl is a variegated dark brown.
~*~

The original fabric that was chosen for the rag trim turned out to be a disappointment. It had a loose weave, and when cut in the thin strip necessary for crocheting within these small stitches, it didn't hold up well at all. Thankfully, my customer was very understanding about this, and I managed to find a golden plaid that worked beautifully. These autumn beauties will be heading to Toronto tomorrow :)

Big Bowl Order: Check!

These bowls are headed off to their new home in Melbourne, Australia today! I loved working with these colors, and the customer was an absolute dream, too. It was a special treat to have a chance to make my stitchee bowlees in larger sizes; the smallest ones here are my usual size (3" wide by 2.5" high). The medium size is 5" wide by 3.5" high, and the large is 7" wide by 5" high.
Whew... that's a lot of bowl!

Never Lose Hope

My orange and purple nesting bowl set got to be in the spotlight last night: Etsy front page, baby! Even better than that, they now get to go live in a new home. I made these back in September with Halloween in mind. In October they got lots of exposure and lots of hearts, but no buyer. I changed their name from Halloween Glow to Harvest Moon Glow at the beginning of November, still no buyer. And lo! On December 2nd, the right customer came along. Thank you to lusitania for giving them a final push in this beautiful collection. The moral of the story: never lose hope that a creation and its perfect owner will be united :)
