Thursday's Treasure

~*~
Awwww.  Look at baby Lyla, all snuggled up in her organic cotton snuggle set.  Big, big thanks to her mommy Mari and photographer Aubrey Stopa for sharing the photos.
~*~

~*~
There's something about a big baby yawn that is so so sweet.  She looks like a darling little bundle, that's for sure :)
~*~
For more information about the talented photographer behind these photos, check out her website HERE and her Facebook page HERE.
~*~
If you are here reading this, I give you my biggest thanks for sticking with me during these sparse posting times.  I believe that better days are just ahead, and I look forward to catching back up with you all!

Makeover Monday: 3/11

~*~
Thought you might enjoy seeing the Easter basket that I shared fabrics for last Monday.
This little lady is headed all the way to Texas :)
~*~

~*~
The lucky little girl's mom wanted to know if I could personalize the basket.  I don't sew or monogram, but I can add a charm.  This little frame with "Kyleigh Jean" is just tied with ribbon to the fabric bow.  An adorable touch- I love this idea!
~*~
Here's wishing you a lovely week!

Wednesday's Works

~*~
My big beautiful bundle of joy was born this morning at 10am, weighing in at 9 pounds, 6 ounces.
~*~

~*~
I had to move furniture in the living room to have enough room to spread her out for photos, and I still had trouble getting her whole self in the pictures.  All of her ends are woven in, and she's all bundled and wrapped for her journey to NH.  I'll be so happy when she reaches her new home safely!

Makeover Monday: 2/25

~*~
This is a standard issue US hospital baby blanket.  It was mailed to me by a repeat sosorosey customer, because this one belongs to her good friend who recently had a baby.  My customer wanted 3 eco-friendly "Baby's First Ornaments" made as a gift for the new mom!
~*~

~*~
I really like how the striping made flecks of color throughout each star.  They all say "Nolan 2012" on  the charm, but each star is slightly different in pattern placement.  What a sweet and thoughtful gift!

Ombre

 ~*~
I had a special request in sosorosey for an upcycled catch all basket in red.  I shared several reds with my customer, and she decided she'd like a mix of shades.
~*~
~*~
I played with lots of different options for color placement, and decided to try my hand at making this one an ombre effect.
 ~*~
~*~
I started with my deepest cranberry red, circled up through brick, into cherry, and finally wound up with a faded chambray.
 ~*~
 ~*~
It looks so pretty from so many different angles.  I had wondered if my color efforts would be noticed, but that fear was allayed when Sophie saw the basket this morning.  Right away she commented on how cool it was that the colors went from light to dark like that.
~*~
~*~
Final measurements are about 9" wide and 4" high.  I like it so well, that I'm considering making a custom listing for the "ombre catch all".  What do you think?

Wednesday's Works

~*~
I have been toiling away on my large natural cotton rug, and she is now about a third of the way finished!  In this photo she is 50" by 35".  It is so very hard to determine scale in rug photos, so I added my shoes to the background so that you can better judge the size.  Wish I had thought to do that in the first photos so we could see the difference, but I'll include them from here on out.
~*~
~*~
When you have to get back so far to capture an entire large rug in a photo, the details get a bit lost.  Fortunately when you are there in person, you can see it in all of its glorious texture and beauty!
~*~
This is one of the most soothing projects I have ever done.  Back and forth with a stitch that I love, just thinking and dreaming and creating.  It will no doubt get more difficult as it grows, since it has to be turned over after every row.  So, who needs the gym?  I'll have crochet arms!

Thursday's Treasure

It's our lucky week!  We have yet another customer's wonderful work to drool over.  Nicole from Auli'i Baby has created baby dresses with the vintage fabric she purchased from sosovintage!
~*~
~*~
This sweet pink one is size 18 months.
~*~
And the blue one is 12 months.  Where were these cuties when my girl was a little peanut?!
~*~
Nicole is from Waimea, Hawaii, and the word "auli'i" in her shop name is Hawaiian for cute, dainty, and exquisite.  One step into her shop, and you'll see creations that make you think exactly those things!  Best of all, Nicole offers ready made AND custom baby dresses that are super affordable.   Happy shopping!

Makeover Monday: 1/21

~*~
The Easter basket I told you about last week is finished!  She is made of four different fabrics, and has not 4, not 6, but EIGHT rows of ruffles.
~*~
~*~
At ten and a half inches wide and six inches deep, this baby will hold a bunny's ransom of candy and other treats.  She's ready to head off to Nebraska tomorrow!

Wednesday's Works

Whew! What a busy week it has been. I was so sorry to hear that some of you have been under the weather. Unfortunately, I have to add myself to that list too. I don't have the "itis" as Sophie calls what she had, but I guess I have a cold that really has left me down and out for a couple of days. Here's hoping we are all on the upswing soon!
~*~
~*~
My stair tread yarn arrived in the mail pretty quickly, and I have been working at those for a couple of days.  Here they are pictured next to the paint colors for the hall/stairwell.  Looking good!
~*~
~*~
We had a change of fabric for the Easter basket, so it will now be made of these fabrics instead of the ones shown on Monday.  I'm looking forward to starting this project very soon.
~*~
~*~
I sold a rosey snuggle set the other day, and had a bit of a panic as I needed to remember my pattern!  Fortunately, the old brain is still functioning and I was able to  recall all of the important details.
~*~
Add to this mix a little rug and a giant bowl, and I'll be crocheting away for the foreseeable future.  I love it!  What have you been busy with this week?

Thursday's Treasure

~*~
Talented seamstress Kiley from New York recently shared this quirky and delightful quilt that she made for her son using some of her sosovintage fabrics.  I love that she didn't use a pattern and just let her imagination piece it together.  You can read more about Kiley and the process she used to make this sweet blankie on her blog, Always Come Home.   Enjoy!
~*~
PS- Still looking for more guesses on yesterday's post!  No one has gotten it yet :)

Tuesday's Treat

~*~
I have long been a fan of EKRA- both the artist and the person behind the work.  You may know Emily for her famous rugs, but did you know that she has other serious talents, too?
~*~

~*~
Emily has recently had to put her crochet on hold (read more here), and I have been amazed at the transition she's made to a completely different creative outlet.  Her mosaic frames are amazing, one-of-a-kind treasures.  And, they're eco-friendly!  Emily uses all reclaimed and/or made in USA products in her work.  They come in a range of sizes to fit every style and budget, too.
~*~

~*~
You won't find a nicer person to work with, and I know firsthand that EKRA customer service is top notch.  The only problem you'll have when you visit Emily's new line of frames is deciding which one to buy!

Tuesday's Treat

~*~
This dear deer bowl is the brainchild of one of my most creative customers.  Isn't it precious?  It will be a gift for her mother this Christmas :)
~*~
In other news, check out the new holiday slideshow over on the right side of my blog.  It was created by my good friend Karen from Vintage Station, and it features my shops along with many other awesome etsy sellers.  What a sweet surprise!
~*~
Happy Tuesday, my friends- may you have many treats to fill your day

Makeover Monday: 11/26

~*~
For this project I used a silver yarn that I found in the sale bin on my last trip to AC Moore.  Added a little festive baker's twine and several feet of white lace...
~*~
 ~*~
... and we have a pretty garland for the mantle!  I have several versions of this in my mind, and I hope to have the time to bring them to life at some point.
~*~
This is shaping up to be a VERY busy week.  In fact, I just started listing out all I have to do and got exhausted just writing it all down.  Luckily most of it is related to school or fun, so I am very thankful for that.  Hope you have a wonderful week!

Candy Corn Bowl

~*~
Well, the X-Large long sleeved tee yielded a good amount of fabric!  Enough to create a basket large enough to contain candy corn for the whole office- for a week.  It is 5" wide and 5" high.  The colors are so perfect for the fall season!  Now if I can just get her listed in time to find a new home for Halloween...

Rug In Black

After I posted pics of my jute mat, I had someone express interest in a black version.  OK, fine- my MOM expressed interest.  She counts- believe me, she's one of my all-time best customers!
~*~
In any case, here is the rug in black yarn.  Three strands of soft, specialty acrylic known for its washability, durability and lasting beauty.  She is almost 2 feet wide by 40" long.  All yours if you like her, Mama.  No pressure if it isn't what you were looking for... I can always pop her in sosorosey for someone else to love :)
~*~
PS- this IS a true black black even though it has a brownish tinge in the photos.  We have a stormy day today, and even my fancy photo light can't work miracles with this gloomy lighting.

Thursday's Treasure

~*~
Did you think for even an instant that I made these beautiful things?  If so, you must be a new follower, lol!  No, this adorable cake bunting was handmade by Caroline from Beautiful Thinking UK on etsy.
~*~
 ~*~
My one teeny part in this production was packaging up and sending the stunning fabrics that Caroline chose from sosovintage.  Everything else was all her!  She has an incredible eye, doesn't she?
~*~
 ~*~
Bunting just somehow kicks every festivity level up about 10 notches!  They are perfect for any occasion, and in my book, buying one or ten is a good enough reason to form an occasion.
~*~
~*~
All of these items are for sale in Beautiful Thinking.  Click the banner above to shop the whole store, or click the individual photos above to go directly to those listings.  Warning: Cover your keyboards...Drool Alert!
~*~
Looks like the pink bunting has already been scooped up, but I'll bet Caroline would love to make something similar just for you.  Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful thinking with us, Caroline!!

Makeover Monday: 4/23

A returning sosorosey customer needed gifts for three new babies.  She requested "baby's first ornament" stars in red/white, green/white, and blue/white.  Here are the three baby receiving blankets that I found to meet the color request.
~*~
~*~
And here are the stars for Jake, Cameron, and Joseph.  The first baby stars sold for Christmas 2012!  I love that these can be given at any time of the year- an affordable and meaningful gift option.
~*~
Happy last full week of April to you!  This week marks the last meeting that I will have with my mentee for the school system job I have been doing these last few months.  We also have school pictures to look forward to on Friday.  I have bunches of fabric to cut and items to get listed in both shops, too.  A big thanks to those who have gotten in their guess for The Price is Right game from Saturday.  Scroll down to play if you haven't already... the winner will be announced tomorrow evening, so there is still time to get your game on!

Kissy Cat

~*~
Just look at how the uber talented Lisa Jane used her Kliban cat fabric from sosovintage!  I adore the combination of fabrics that she put together, don't you?  In fact, her entire shop is brimming with beautifully coordinated, colorful creations.  Check it out by clicking on the photo or right HERE.  Enjoy!!

Charmed, I'm Sure

~*~
Valentine's Day is coming!  What could be sweeter than a little pink bowlee with a heart charm and dotty ribbon?  This one, and maybe some of her relatives, will be hitting the shelves this week :)

Sherpa Sweetie

Aw.  There it is.  My new organic cotton baby hat, the sherpa sweetie.  It comes complete with itty bitty earflaps and braided top knot and matching ties.  The stacked posies add a dash of adorability to the Himalayan style chapeau.
~*~
But wait, there's more!  I said it was a set, right?  You're expecting booties, aren't you?
~*~

Nope.  Mittens!!!  Newborn baby mittens!!!
~*~
This set was created as a special request, but I will definitely list these in the shop soon.  I have my fingers crossed that we'll get to see photos of the real baby in her new goodies!
