Dreaming of Spring

Our backyard is sparkling- yes, that's blue sky up there!
~*~

Our mailbox and driveway have been dug out thanks to lots of hard work by hubby (and a little extra help from the neighbor's snowblower).
~*~

We enjoyed some family fun and games outdoors this morning as we walked the neighborhood streets to survey the situation.
~*~
We're feeling very lucky right about now. Our main neighborhood road is passable. We have side streets, though, that haven't been touched by plows. This one is blocked by downed trees.
~*~

In full on "dreaming of spring" mode, I set about designing something new last night. Introducing the bunny buns napkin cuff- how cute is that pearl button "cottontail"? Cool feature: the bunny is removable, leaving just a basic ecru napkin cuff with classy button closure!

Hop this way, spring!

Going Organic

I'm pretty sure that when yarn store owners see me coming, they start rubbing their hands together and emitting an evil mwuahahahaha as dollar signs light up their eyes. I am unable to control myself around beautiful yarn!!
~*~
I have been toying around with a new napkin cuff design- something extra ruffly and girly- and when I saw this new color in my favorite organic yarn, that was all she wrote. I justified the purchase with the fact that I've been wanting to add more organic products to my shop. The yarn is pricey, though, and that will have to carry over to the item cost. I hope they are popular because I LOVE working with this cotton- it is just so soft to the touch and to the eye.
~*~
I finished these cuffs off with some vintage repro etched shell buttons that I have been saving for just the right project. This set of 4 will be listed in my shop ($20) as soon as I get fabulous pictures that showcase their beauty.

What supply is your major weakness? Or should I say supplies, teehee?

Woot!

Big thanks to Barbara at southernladysvintage for letting me know that my coconut blues napkin cuffs were on the front page today! At 6 something pm eastern time, this gorgeous treasury (curated by the talented monarchdancer) was chosen by Etsy admin to grace the front page of their website.

The feeling of seeing something you made looking back at you from this special spot is indescribable. For me it is like a combination of standing on the top of Mt. Everest and being handed a winning lottery ticket.

I stare and stare, thinking "Wow, that's me right there! Right there! I MADE that!" Then *poof* the front page changes, and your 30 minutes of fame is over. But thankfully that warm, fuzzy feeling stays and stays. And if it happened once, it can happen again! Woot!
