The Big Reveal

Well, it isn't Victoria's Secret. Or Fruit of the Loom. It's Hanes! My 110 stars are supposed to be on a Christmas tree in their Holiday 2010 catalog. Clicking the photo will take you to their website where you can sign up for a free catalog if you'd like one. Rumor has it that there *may* be a holiday video on the site starting in the fall. Only you and I will know that these are my stars, but it will be our fabulous little secret - thanks for being in on it with me :)

Makeover Monday: 8/2

I started with one of THE funkiest vintage bedsheets I have ever come across...


... and hooked up a super colorful large star!

I'll be bringing this star and several others- along with lots of large baskets- to The Muse in Frederick, Maryland in a couple of weeks. My goodies have been selling pretty well there, and the owner wants more...yay!

I plan to offer the large size version of my upcycled stars on Etsy this year, too. These are 6.5" from point to point, yet they weigh just over 2 ounces! This means great things for holiday decorating...they stand out on the tree without dragging the branches down. At just $10 per individually wrapped and sweetly tagged star, they are the perfect gift for anyone on the list who appreciates eco-friendly, unique and handmade.

It's In the Stars

I had a recent request for stars in multiple sizes. Why didn't this idea ever occur to me before? I worked and reworked my patterns for the medium and large to get them just right, and I love the way they came out. This will provide some fun versatility to the sets I will be offering for the holidays this year. The small one is 3.5" across, and the large is a whopping 6.5" from point to point. These were worked with a double strand of cotton to give them added substance and a more sturdy appeal. Three down, one hundred and seven more to go! I SO wish I could tell you where these stars were going, but I'll have to keep that secret for a bit longer :)

Back in Rag Ball Heaven

I had the unique and wonderful opportunity to work with a customer's heirloom antique rag balls last year. Lucky for me, she was so happy with her items that she decided to send me some more rags to work with! This is a shot of the new batch of stars. It may seem odd to you, but this is pure bliss for me. Seeing the bits and pieces of a simpler time, giving them a new way to be appreciated and enjoyed... ahhhhhhh. I think I must have lived during colonial times in a previous existence. Or at the very least, watched waaaay too much Little House on the Prairie as a child. ;)
