Thursday's Treasure

I found a clear bag filled with these miniature books at the thrift store.  They staple these bags shut, so while I could see what was inside, I couldn't really "see" what was there.  For 90 cents, I gambled.

Brought 'em home and how about that- all 12 are here, in perfect condition!  I'm a little confounded by these, though.  Need to do some research.  The copyright dates of the original stories are printed on the back covers of these, but it doesn't say anywhere when these actual little books were made.  I'm not parting with them anytime soon, though.  ;)

Rare Gems

~*~
One of my favorite thrift stores moved locations about a year ago.  I went to the new location one time and hated it.  Decided to boycott the place.  It was far away, the parking was horrific, the place was disorganized, and everything "good" was shuffled off to their upscale sister location.  And priced accordingly.
~*~
I was passing by the other day, though, and decided to give it a second chance.  I'm SO glad I did!  These three vintage towels- and lots of other goodies- were just sitting there waiting for me.  It's so hard to find vintage towels in good {let alone excellent} condition, and these don't look like they were ever even used.  I plan to pop them on the sosovintage shelves one day soon :)

Thursday's Treasure

Just when I thought Tuesday's trip to the Salvation Army was a bust, I spied this beauty peeking out from the linen rack! It has a few flaws, but it also has a ton of gorgeous fabric for pillows or stuffed animals or totes, etc. I think I will sell it whole, as is, for some lucky seamstress to harvest as she sees fit.

~*~

Funny story, while I was pushing my cart around with this hanging over it, a lady came up oohing and ahhing and said, "Do you KNOW what this IS? Um, "What?" I reply- thinking maybe there was a special name for the pattern or something.

~*~

"An old chenille BEDSPREAD!" she proclaimed. Well, I'll be! I guess that takes care of that! Teehee. Perhaps I looked so youthful that she figured I couldn't possibly be old enough to remember these. Yep, that must be it :)

Thursday's Treasure

Oh, just look at the bright beauty I found the other day! Do you know what it is?

~*~

Here's the other side... maybe this will help.

And look at the little matching freebie that was tucked inside! Yay me!

Price Is Right Game 5

Welcome! Come join the fun- the more, the merrier!

The Game: I show you my thrift shop haul from one recent outing. You leave a comment with your best estimate of the total amount that I paid. For you sticklers out there, this does include sales tax. The person who comes closest without going over wins!
~*~
The Rules: One clear and definitive guess per person- no amending your answer. Please do not choose the same answer as a person who came before you- check the comments before leaving your guess. Game goes through Thursday at 8 am EST. I'll post the receipt and winner here. Please be sure I know how to get in touch with you- either through email or Etsy shop name. Play nice and have fun :)
~*~
The Prize: The satisfaction of winning, AND $5 in "soso bucks"- can be applied to any purchase in either of my shops. Can be saved and spent at a later time, up to one year. Can also be combined with future "soso bucks" wins! Not redeemable for cash. Non-transferable.
~*~
The Stuff: This week the loot is from the Salvation Army, non-sale day. Prices here have been going up and up, but there are still lots of bargains to be had!

It's a Wrap

Well, actually, it's a LOTTA wrap. I found these vintage wrapping paper squares at a charity shop that I only visit once a month or so. I was surprised at how much they had- in perfect condition, too. No marks, tears, or most importantly, smells. The best part? Ten cents a sheet!!!!

Click on the photo to check out a fun blog post I found about using vintage wrapping paper to "kitsch up your gifts". Hope you are having a smashing weekend! Don't forget to come on back tomorrow for an exciting Makeover Monday... hint: it involves another late night experiment :)
