Holiday Preview

I'm not one to rush through Halloween or Thanksgiving just to get to Christmas.  BUT, I also like to have new Christmas things in time to use them.  So, in that spirit, I thought I'd share a few items coming to sosovintage soon.  There's the Vera poinsettia kitchen towel above...
~*~
this awesome stacking cup from Japan...
~*~
cotton fabric yardage from a vintage tablecloth...
~*~
LOTS of holiday cards...
~*~
and even a cute little reindeer story that would display so nicely for a vintage Christmas tableau!
~*~
Beginning in October, I will have a dedicated place in my shop for all things holiday.  Look for these goodies and more in the *celebrate* section soon!

Daily Dose of Cute

I found these three reindeer at the Salvation Army last year. Each one has his own "issue" (don't we all!), so our home is their last stop. We appreciate imperfections around here; missing bells, wandering eyes, raggedy tongues just mean they have known love. We should all be so lucky to have our less than lovely bits looked on so kindly!

Blow Mold Bonanza

Who doesn't love a vintage Christmas? Apparently SOMEONE doesn't, since they had the audacity to donate all of these late 60s/early 70s Empire blow molds to the thrift store! Shame on them, but yay for me. I can't wait to give these cuties a new home. They will be listed in sosovintage the week of November 15th. If there is one you must have for your collection, let me know and I'll reserve it just for you :)

Price Is Right: Game 7

Welcome! Come join the fun- the more, the merrier!
The Game: I show you my thrift shop haul from one recent outing. You leave a comment with your best estimate of the total amount that I paid. For you sticklers out there, this does include sales tax. The person who comes closest without going over wins!
~*~
The Rules: One clear and definitive guess per person- no amending your answer. Please do not choose the same answer as a person who came before you- check the comments before leaving your guess. Game goes through Tuesday at 5pm, EST. I'll post the receipt and winner here. Please be sure I know how to get in touch with you- either through email or Etsy shop name. Play nice and have fun :)
~*~
The Prize: The satisfaction of winning, AND $5 in "soso bucks"- can be applied to any purchase in either of my shops. Can be saved and spent at a later time, up to one year. Can also be combined with future "soso bucks" wins! Not redeemable for cash. Non-transferable.
~*~
The Stuff: This week the loot is from the Salvation Army, non-sale day. Prices here have been going up and up, but there are still lots of bargains to be had!
~*~
Two vintage pillowcases
~*~

Pyrex refrigerator dishes
~*~

A bag of Christmas ornaments containing...
~*~
two felt and rickrack bells made in Japan
~*~
and two flocked and glittered reindeer
~*~

NOT included in the bag were these two Japan pixies
~*~
A jolly, bearded Christmas gnome

~*~

and this absolutely precious drummer boy!
~*~
So, how much did I spend? Just to reiterate- the deer and bells were included in the bag. The rest of the ornaments shown were sold separately. Can't wait to see who our lucky winner will be this time! See you tomorrow for Makeover Monday!

Friday's Find: 11/6

Last week, the Salvation Army had just put out their Christmas goodies when I arrived. I found some nice things, but nothing that made me jump around. I wasn't expecting much in the way of Christmas today, figuring it had been picked over by now.
~*~
But, I guess they had more to put out- lucky me! I snatched this snowman up right straight away! He was made by the Empire Plastic Corp. in 1968... the year I was born. Doesn't he have the sweetest face?
