Twin Posies

~*~
Custom orders for sosorosey have been few and far between for many months, so I was happy to get the request for these large ruffled potholder/trivets. They measure 9.5" across, so they are large and thick enough for just about anything you want to set on top of them.
~*~
My next job is two custom baskets, and I hope to have one to share as Makeover Monday tomorrow.  What are you making these days?

Makeover Monday: 2/27

Today's project is a special order that came in at the end of last week.  Upon checking out with THIS purchase, the customer asked for turquoise yarn...

... and a whitish fabric topper.  With maybe green and/or yellow.  I enjoyed looking through all of my fabrics to find the perfect one!
~*~
I love the way they came out.  So crisp, clean and colorful.  They remind me of a Mediterranean vista.  I hope they are exactly what was envisioned.  They'll be heading off to California tomorrow :)
~*~
What's going on in your neck of the woods this week?  I plan to spend today and tomorrow making up for last week's lost thrifting time, so I am raring to go!  I hope you have a wonderful start to the last week of February.

Work in Progress

The jade bowl is finished!  I don't want to show too much, because it is a surprise for someone.  She (the bowl, not the person) is on her way north with her ruffly sister.  Safe travels :)

Here is another shot of the fabric I shared last week.  The fabric is called "Cornwall Garden" and my customer is having curtains made (on Etsy, of course) from this.  She shared the photo to inspire me to choose colors that will create a lidded clutter keeper to match.

Here are the fabrics I chose...

... and here is the keeper so far.  I'll post more photos of the finished project- hopefully in time for Makeover Monday!

Thursday's Treasure

Today's treasure: custom orders.  I love them!  The jade bowl is working up fantastically- that ribbing really gives it some extra texture.  Ruffles will be coming next.
~*~
Does this yarn look familiar?  It's the same one I use for my original snuggle sacque.  A new customer from across the pond wanted a 25" by 35" blanket made instead of a snuggler... it came out so soft and light.  Any baby would love this blankie.  Heck, any adult would too :)
~*~

My newest project is for a custom lidded clutter keeper to match this fabric.  Aren't the colors dreamy?  I can't wait to get started on that one this weekend!
~*~
And last but not least, I'll have a big "reveal" on Saturday to show off a special set that I made for my sister-in-law as a gift for her friend's new baby.  It's purty darn precious, IIDSSM.  Not sure if that is a "common" texter shortcut.  Probably not- texters are more than likely too cool to say IIDSSM.  You know what it is, though- right?  Not to imply that you aren't cool...

Makeover Monday: 8/22

I won't deja vu you again by showing the fabric for this bowl a third time!  I'm pleased to announce that it is finished, though.  It's hard to believe this contains two pairs of pants, two shirts and a jacket, isn't it?  After all these years, it still amazes me how much fabric goes into crocheted bowls and rugs.  I guess when it fails to amaze me, it will be time to quit!
~*~
So, we're safely back from vacation and looking forward to a relatively quiet week around here.  Time to play catch up with laundry, housework, and orders.  I found out today that a new thrift store opened while I was away- and it's right across the street from my usual Tuesday thrift stop!  I'll be checking that out tomorrow for sure- I'll let you know how that goes.  My baby starts kindergarten two weeks from tomorrow!  Have your kids already started back?  How's your week looking?  Hope it's a great one!!

Makeover Monday: 8/8

I've been entrusted with a super important job- turning these sentimental articles of clothing into a ruffled bowl for a very special person.  It's going to take some thought and time, as this is a fabric I have not worked with before... "parachute nylon".
~*~

~*~
I've planned out the overall pattern, and begun the base.  As I suspected, this material scrunches down to almost nothing once crocheted.  What you see here is made from an entire pair of pants!!!  Hoping to have more to show by the end of the week.  Stay tuned!!
