Makeover Monday: 10/19

Before I left for my vacation, I decided to treat myself and order a custom craft apron for my upcoming fair. I went straight to my teammate Amanda at sygnetcreations. Within minutes of sending her a message with a general idea of what I wanted (pinks, shabby chic, roses), she came back to me with these three fabrics!

She completed my apron- to my measurements and choice of pocket placement- in record time. It was already here when I got back from vacation, and I LOVE it. I can't wait to wear it on Friday- even if I don't sell one thing, I will be very content (and ultra-organized) just wearing my happy little rosey apron.

With four good sized pockets, there is a perfect place for pens, business cards, cash, and a receipt book. As a special surprise, Amanda even included my shop name on the outside of one of the pockets! Is that cool or what???
~*~
I absolutely, positively, very highly recommend Amanda's service and product- if you do craft shows or know someone who does, this is the best $25 you will ever spend.

Ready to go buy your own? Go right HERE- you'll be *soso* glad you did.

How The Rag Rug Grows

It was just about a month ago when my friend Amanda at SygnetCreations sent me a message that someone had put in an alchemy request for a 5 foot wide, round rag rug. I went ahead and put in a bid, but did not hold my breath since I had to charge more than the person was wanting to spend and would not be able to have the rug ready by the date requested.
~*~
To my surprise and delight, my bid was accepted! Once the particulars were worked out, my customer got back in touch with me a few days later...she had remeasured the space, and now wanted the rug to be 7 feet wide! Running the numbers, I realized that the new size rug was about double the area of the 5 foot rug...it was going to cost twice as much and be twice as large.
~*~
The new price was accepted, and work began. The biggest initial challenge was picking out enough of the right fabrics in the customer's color choices.
Once the fabrics were approved, I got to work!
~*~
I work on this rug every single night. We have developed quite a relationship! I absolutely love her, and enjoy every second of watching her grow.
She is 4 feet wide now, and seems so big...I can't believe that she isn't even halfway finished!
~*~
I have high hopes of completing this project by Easter.
What do you think, can I do it?
The moral of the story, alchemy requests on Etsy can work!
Have you put in a bid or a request? I'd love to hear your success story!

A Wacky Week In Review

Last week was craaaaaaazy! My husband was out of town, my parents were here from Florida, I had tons of presents to get wrapped, and I sold 21 items between Dec. 7th and Dec. 14th! As if that wasn't enough to make an already nutso person flip over the edge, I was one of the artists featured in the Storque's *shop local VA* article by Mel at backwoodsophisticate. Click on the link to see a photo of me and several other VA artists. The same day that came out, my friend Amanda at sygnetscreations sent me a message that one of my bowls was on the front page of Etsy! Thank you adornbyamysingley for including me in your collection! What a rush!! I'm still all full of adrenaline- better use it to get crocheting, huh?

Well, Happy Early Anniversary To Me!

Tomorrow marks my one year "discovered Etsy" anniversary! And today, I woke up to a lovely message from one of my Etsyfriends teammates, Amanda, at SygnetCreations. She sent me a screenshot of the front page of Etsy - with my organic baby girl snuggle set right in the middle!

This collection was up from about 6am-8am EST. Best of all, the treasury was curated by one of my best Etsy friends, Nikki at KaleidoscopeKorner, and featured 3 other teammates too! How cool to share the best spot on Etsy with MannieMandible, KrazyFashion, and SygnetCreations.

I knew when I saw this one that it was a special collection; it was bound for greatness :) Big thanks go out to Nikki, Amanda, and also to Amy at ThePeachTree for her congrats convo. Thank you admin for the early anniversary gift- mwuah!
