Wednesday's Works

It's a bit dark here for pictures today, but I promised you a photo of my wreath, and here it is.  What's that you say?  It's not circular?  Well, funny you should notice.  Rather than triangular, I prefer to think of her as kind of heart shaped.  She was a labor of love, after all.

And let me tell you, I feel fortunate to have anything of any shape at all to show for my efforts.  If you decide to try this project, save yourself the hassle of the "free" wire hanger and go buy some wire.  Even my flimsiest hanger was too unflimsy for me to work with alone.  I needed hubby and his pliers to wrap this baby back together.  Which is why I am shocked that the whole thing didn't bust in the process.  Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with my wreath.  But it was nerve wracking, I tell you!!  This is where working with new, shatterproof glass balls would be a plus.

Here's another color combo of the "potholders that are too pretty to use as potholders".  I'll be holding off on other color combos for now, since I have an order for 5 of the red/white/green ones to get finished before months end.

Another thing I played around with this past week: a "tinsel topped" jute nest.  This would make a nice gift bag alternative!  In my spare time I'd like to make one with gold tinsel, too.  (psst: It isn't actually tinsel, but Martha Stewart's new glittery eyelash yarn.  I adore the colors!)

How are you doing on your goals for the week?  Me, I'm still plugging away at my 600 item sosovintage goal.  The closest I got was 593, then some nice person came along and scooped up a load of towels.  This is just fine with me!  I have a fresh load of towels to list, and I will get to 600 one of these days :)

Tuesday's Treat

I found a lovely load of vintage glass ball ornaments at Bee-Thrifty the other day.  Decided to purchase them with the sole purpose of making one of the glass ball ornament wreaths I keep seeing and coveting.  Having never made a wreath of any sort before, I set to work on my google research and found THIS TUTORIAL from the Thrifty Decor Chick.  It offers a how-to with extra tips of what NOT to do, plus it is written in a really funny way.  Bonus!

So far I have selected my coat hanger, sorted my ornaments and glued on the caps.  I began the "putting on" process and realized I need more ornaments.  Off to the thrift store this afternoon hoping to find more in my color scheme - pink, silver, jadite, and aqua.  Will share whatever I have complete tomorrow on Wednesday's works.

Makeover Monday: 11/5

I have been searching for a new origami thing to make for Christmas.  I wanted something fairly quick and easy- something that I could make in the evenings when I'm tired and trying to unwind.  I found these cute wreath ornaments and directions and decided to give them a go.  They came out so sweet with my vintage gift wraps...click the photo to see more detail.  I predict there will be more of these in my future!

And, while I was using big huge labs for the "mosaic" up there, I played around with another photo thingy they have.  I think it's called frames.

Happy Monday!  I am positively spinning from all of the organizing and creativity flowing around here.  I have two days off of mommy duty while Sophie is visiting her grandparents, and I will be using every moment wisely.  Stay tuned for more fun projects this week!

Thursday's Treasure

When it comes to the three of us in my immediate family, we all have very different things that we like to do in our free time.  I love to craft, read, and thrift.  Mike likes to work in the yard or be out somewhere enjoying nature.  Sophie likes to draw, use "technology", and make things.  We have several things that we enjoy doing together, too.  We like to visit new places, and we like to play games.

A new favorite game is Cranium.  We have to do things a little differently with only 3 of us instead of the 4 or more, since it's a team type game.  But we made it work the other night, and I saved some of Sophie's drawings to share with you.  It wouldn't be any fun at all if I told you what they were right from the get-go, so please enjoy the drawings and leave your guess for 1-4 in the comments.  I'll come back tomorrow and give you the correct answers!
