Makeover Monday: 4/5

One of my Etsy teams is hosting a big giveaway at the end of this month. Lots of members are donating items to put in a large basket, and I decided I'd better create my contribution while I had the time. The theme of the event is "spring", so I began by choosing this vintage floral fabric.
~*~
I wanted to make something that would be useful to the winner. So, at the risk of being boring, I went with a bowl.
~*~ I added a special touch, though...two little finger slots on either side. They give it a real "pot o' gold" cachepot shape. It is 6.5" wide and 4" high.
~*~ Happy Monday to you!
~*~
Special note: I have not forgotten about the craft room makeover. I got sidetracked from my progress with our trip preparations (and life), but I'll be getting back to work on it soon enough. After long consideration, I have grouped the tasks necessary by order of importance. See, it isn't just a matter of creating a crafty space- would that it were! First I need to create actual space by cleaning out 2 large storage closets before I can even tackle the room. I won't bore you with the details- just wanted you to know where I am with the *big dig*.

Easter Basket

Happy Easter! What a perfect day to share this new basket with you!
~*~
Before I left for my trip, a lovely customer wrote to ask if I could make a basket for her like the one I shared on my blog... you know, the ruffly one. I did not have the same fabric I used before, but I found this sweet "impressionist" floral that we thought would look wonderful.
~*~ I think we were right! The muted tones blend together so nicely, and the ruffle lets the colors have some pop.
~*~
I hope the Easter bunny is good to you today. See you tomorrow for Makeover Monday!

Makeover Monday Revisited

I combined the striped rainbow fabric from Monday with some complimentary white/rainbow mix to produce this totally unique bowl for a new customer in Canada.
~*~ I'm calling it the "reversi-bowl" because it can be turned inside out for a different look!
~*~

A third option, and my favorite, can be created just by folding the sides down.
~*~

Can you guess what she will be using this bowl for??? Leave your answer in the comments- I promise to come back and tell you later today!

Thursday's Treasure

We just got back last night from a short trip up north to surprise our "Michigan family" with a visit. First we met up with my mom and dad in Pennsylvania. Then, we convoyed up near Detroit to see my aunt, uncle, grandmother, and cousins. My husband and I have not seen most of these relatives since our wedding almost 8 years ago. I hadn't been to Michigan in 14 years. Sophie had never met these relatives at all...and her only great grandmother will be 98 in May!
~*~

Here is our group (minus my hubby the photographer) at the Detroit Zoo. We are in a tunnel underneath the Arctic Ring of Life exhibit- the seals would glide right over our heads!

~*~

Next stop was Ohio- just outside of Cleveland. Here we met up with my sister-in-law and her hubby and daughter. Sophie's cousin is just 4 months older than she is. They had SO much fun together, and did not want the visit to end.
~*~
We met up with my mom and dad again the next day, convoyed back to Pennsylvania, and then kept on chugging back to Virginia. It was a whirlwind 5 days, and I have the laundry to prove it. I wouldn't trade a minute of this trip, though. The visit and the memories will be lasting treasures for so many people.
~*~
I hope you are enjoying your spring break too! Any special trips or plans in your neck of the woods?

My Cups Runneth Over

I seem to gather things in clusters. That, and I sometimes just realize I have accumulated lots of the same type of item. Whichever the case, I have quartets of vintage cups begging to be listed. Here are some of my faves.
~*~

Heavy restaurantware, footed coffee mugs by Syracuse China.

~*~ Sweet white glass with floral motif by arcopal (France)

~*~

Groovy flower power footed desserts in lime and cobalt

Bright yellow and orange retro bird stacking mugs, Japan

Which ones should I list first?
