Ever since he was an orphaned kitten, this boy has been a fighter.  He has a wild streak that can't be tamed or ignored.  While he enjoys the comforts of home and family, he insists on spending most nights outside.  He's usually on the back deck when we wake up, waiting to come in for some love and fresh food.  Not necessarily in that order.

There have been many times when he's appeared with tufts of fur sticking out from a squirrel tussle.  Once he had a paw gash that took a week to heal.  Who knows what he does all night long.  One thing is certain- we do have foxes that roam the neighborhood and a family of hawks in the backyard.  All of whom are far more athletic and less *fluffy* than our tough guy.

Sinatra wasn't on the back deck the other morning.  We waited awhile for him to show up, then started calling for him.  Ever so slowly he started up the long staircase to the deck.  My relief at seeing him was quickly replaced with concern.  Our boy is hurt.  His ear has several surface scratches and a swollen bump where it meets his head.  He has lots of smaller puncture wounds under his fur around his chest.  The worst of it is his right front leg.  He is able to move it and bend it, but he must have pulled something at the shoulder.  He has a bad limp, and is moving slowly.

He's getting a little better each day.  Still, it's so hard to look in those eyes and see he's in pain.  He'll let me pet him gently, and he purrs his loud purr.  He tries to jump on and off the bed, and won't let us help him.  He'll heal and continue to fight his fights.  He'll worry us and surprise us, and we'll love him just the way he is.

 Oh, pictures just do not do this mug justice!  This is one of the cutest owls I have ever seen.

And look!  He has a cat friend!  What are the chances that I'd find vintage *owl and pussycat* mugs?  These are made by GHC Japan, and are in excellent condition.  Look for them in sosovintage soon :)

Thursday's Treasure

Arghh, I'm a pirate kitty! With a neon orange fur boa! When Sophie told me she was giving Sinatra a new "cat do", I thought she was going to brush him. I should have known better! He sat so still for his makeover, and would have worn this outfit for quite awhile if I hadn't started feeling sorry for him looking so silly.

I dressed my dog up when I was little- even went so far as to put a diaper on him. Is this an only child thing, or did those of you with siblings dress your pets, too?

No buddy, I didn't get the lint roller out to clean this chair for you. See, this is where I take my photos, remember? For my shops, you know? It's not cool for you to jump your gray furred self up there as SOON as I finish getting the white all white again.

After a long vacation and an exceptionally, ridiculously difficult trip home, we are finally here. Sinatra is happier than he looks in this photo to have his sister back to snuggle him.

I've spent the better part of the day doing laundry, buying groceries, and getting orders together and ready for shipping. I'm not ready to do a makeover tomorrow, but I will have a very special school spirit edition sometime this week. Please stay tuned!

Opinions, Please

Here we go again- I'm having some indecision about these salt and pepper shakers. Are these cats or dogs? The ears tell me "dog", but somehow the whiskers and markings say "cat". Please weigh in by leaving a comment :)

Oh, Thank You, Admin!

My good Etsy friend and her family had to say goodbye to their beloved kitty, Smokey, about a week ago. To show her how much I feel for her loss, and to honor her special purr-boy, I made a "smokey...homage" treasury. It was chosen for the front page of Etsy today! Thank you, Etsy admin for noticing my collection.

Creature Comforts

It's the little things that make me happy. Literally and figuratively! When I need a boost, I look no further than my sunroom. So many little treasures beckon from special nooks, you'd have to try really hard not to smile!

I found this little vintage rooster dish on a thrift outing this week. It is perched on top of an old Cherrystone Farms candy tin. The colors here make me want to make something...now!!

This little vintage fairy bunny pin is one of my all time favorite possessions. She was a mere $1.50 at the local secondhand shop. Is she magical or what?




This is the back of a vintage deck of playing cards that I found new in their package at the Goodwill. I WILL do something with these one day. Any ideas?
