Thursday's Treasure

What we have here is just one glorious corner from my NEW set of reusable grocery bags! I know, it seems wicked odd that *upcycler me* is just now jumping on the "bring your own bags to the grocery store" bandwagon. But it is what it is. Hey, I even thought email would be a passing fad, what can I say.
~*~
The more people I saw doing this, and the more bags I brought into my home and put out for recycling, the more I kept thinking...I've really gotta get some of those reusable bags. So yesterday while I was shopping at TJMaxx for something decent to wear to an upcoming event (a whole nother story), I spied these gorgeous bags at the checkout. For 99 cents! So, now I have 6 of these bad girls, and I can't wait to grocery shop. Do you bring your own bags? If you're a late bloomer like me, I highly suggest a trip to TJMaxx- they have lots of cute styles, and these bags are super sturdy, waterproof, and generously sized. Treasures I tell you!

Always reusable bags. Here in Switzerland they hardly have any other bags available at the check out... No plastic bags at all or pay a fortune for a paper bag. Or get one of those plastic recycled bags with pretty prints from kids crayons on. I love them and use them for groceries as well as laundry and other house chores. And I feel very "green". Good for you jumping on that train at last. Better late than never. PS Just got your fabrics... Can't wait to finish my Flower Power project now. Thanks. :D

BtW, I didn't order the green piece did I? I don't really remember... However it is my FAVORITE and I LUUUUVE it and if you just were generous enough to send it to me as a bonus I am forever grateful. :D

They look like they were made just for SosoRosey :0)
Yes, i use reusable bags, but sometimes I leave them in the car by accident, but then I just load my shopping back in my trolley and fill up my bags at the car :0)
Does this get me a brownie point? lol
have a great weekend Jennie xxxxx

Shame on me--I do not use these bags. Please don't cast stones, everyone! I am such a germ freak that I simply cannot keep using a bag that touched a filthy shopping cart. Sorry.

Jennie, this sweet little bag is so pretty. Think twice before plopping it into a germ infested shopping cart. Yuk!

Well, I used my bags for the first time today. I felt a little pretentious at first, but then I got over it. They worked really well, and I put the bags back in my car as soon as I unloaded the groceries at home. I'm hoping I can just keep them in the car so I don't forget them when I go shopping since this seems like a common problem.

Victoria- I am not a germ-a-phobe, but I do know a few. I thought of you when I used these today...here's what I came up with. Number one, the big germs on a shopping cart are on the handle, where we all touch it, right? So, the place where your grocery bags go isn't THAT bad. The other thing that occurred to me is that it would be super easy to wipe them down with a clorox wipe after use if you were so inclined. I am absolutely not throwing stones- just sayin'...

What we all have to remember is that people have been using bags for centuries without problems. Be careful when you need to be and wash your bags.
